Social Work Library Supervisor

Job Description

The Social Work Library Day Supervisor reports to the Social Work Library Head Librarian and oversees the daily operations of circulation, and general physical library maintenance. This position also hires, trains and supervises student employees.

Responsibilities:
• Manages, participates in and assures smooth functioning of circulation, and technical services.
• Manages library materials budget.
• Hires, trains, and supervises student employees.
• Updates catalog records as needed.
• End-processes new materials as needed.
• Works with the Head Librarian to evaluate and set goals for Circulation Services
• Plans, reviews and revises procedures, polices and workflow as necessary
• Maintains statistics and provides reports as needed.
• Acts as liaison with Buildings and Grounds staff for library physical plant.
• Oversees maintenance/service of library technology.
• Oversees the maintenance of stacks.
• Other related duties and special projects as assigned.

This position is Monday - Friday 7:30am - 3:30pm, however hours may change during summer and school vacations to a later start time depending on Library hours over these breaks.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $43,250 to $54,050; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

One or more years of relevant experience, preferably, in an academic setting, or a library-related environment preferred. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. The ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Flexibility and ability to adapt to a changing environment. Demonstrated problem solving skills. A strong commitment to customer service. General familiarity with or aptitude to learn library-related technologies. Physical stamina for extended periods of lifting heavy objects and pushing loaded book carts. bachelors degree preferred.
