Job Description
Assistant or Associate Professor of African American History
The Department of History at Texas Christian University invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured position at the rank of assistant or associate professor in pre-1877 African American history, to begin August 2020. Duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in African American history, directing graduate students at the M.A. and Ph.D. levels, carrying out a scholarly research and publication program, and contributing service at the department and university levels. The position carries a 3/2 teaching load, a competitive salary, and internal research support, including the possibility of course releases tied to work in the graduate program.
Qualifications & Requirements
Candidates with expertise that extends into the Black Atlantic or elsewhere in the diaspora are especially encouraged to apply, but all scholars of U.S. African American history are welcome and will receive full consideration.
Candidates must possess a completed Ph.D. by the time of appointment, with a teaching, publication, and service record commensurate to their academic experience.
