Job Description
Portfolio Assistant
Responsible for supporting the management of customized portfolio’s for clients (onshore and offshore) of the HSBC Private Bank. The investment solution will be delivered under a discretionary mandate which are subject to the bank’s Reg-9 OCC charter. Responsible for supporting portfolio manager with client service, teamwork, risk management and compliance. As Portfolio Manager Assistant support PMs in customized portfolio management of accounts within established company policies and guidelines, and in accordance with client profile and investment objectives.

Major Challenges
  • The ongoing sophistication of financial instruments, high volatility, uncertainties of the markets and finally more and more demanding private banking clients require pro-activity in getting informed, trained and aware of the particularities and difficulties of the position. If and when needed, training can be required.
Role Context
  • Assist in delivery of a consistence investment approach across all portfolios
  •  For Reg-9 & FIM investment review process for all accounts
  • Perform periodic “ad hoc” reviews of individual portfolios
  • Coordinate/provide investment support, education and guidance to clients, prospects and Relationship Managers
  • Work  with PM to coordinate execution of investment strategy with appropriate products and services
  • Monitor client portfolios for performance, appropriateness and opportunity
  • Coordinate with ISPS team members to ensure consistency of strategic and tactical approach
  • Provide support for the development of new business initiatives and product enhancement
  • Identify/communicate issues or limitations related to product, platform, operations, systems or pricing
  • Ensure integrity and compliance with all HSBC and regulatory policies
  • Complete documentation for accounts i.e. opening, closing, wires, and visitation
  • To maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators. Any failures to comply with the above should be reflected in year end performance assessments

  • Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years experience in buy-side financial markets (securities, fx, derivatives)
  • Knowledge of investment management and  private banking business (onshore and offshore), and competitive and regulatory environment 
  • Client-focused, with strong analytic, technical, teamwork and relationship building skills
  • Strong communication and presentation (written and oral) skills
  • Sound judgment, keen sense of urgency, and high level of professional and personal integrity
