ABOUT THE POSITION:


Reporting to the Director of Polk State's JD Alexander Center, this center based Student Services Specialist position acts as a multifaceted resource which is primarily responsible for daily Center activates related to recruitment, admissions, registration, records, financial aid and academic advising.


 


 


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Disseminates admission, registration, and financial aid documents and other student services information.

  • Directly assists students with tasks relating to admission, registration, records, financial aid, and academic advising.

  • Disseminates information about services, scheduled events, registration periods and other student services activities.

  • Assists the Center Director with the coordination of special events, such as on-site financial aid, registration events, etc.

  • Contributes to retention and recruitment efforts for the center such as making phone calls and sending emails as requested.

  • Supports the Coordinator of Enrollment and Outreach Services and other Student Services staff with clerical duties.

  • Maintains flexible work schedule to fill in for absences and work overtime as needed. Saturday hours are required on a seasonal basis.

  • Assists with new student orientations.

  • Prepares notifications and information for students about services, scheduled events, registration periods and other student services activities as directed.


 


This position is a level P11. Please see starting salary range below.

Qualifications & Requirements

 



  • The ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with faculty and staff.

  • Good organizational skills, with special attention to details.

  • Good oral and written communications skills.

  • Ability and desire to provide students with strong, positive support.

  • Skilled computer knowledge Microsoft products such as Word and Excel. 

  • Ability to work independently on broader assignments with the responsibility of planning work.

  • Ability to makes decisions within accepted standards.

  • Ability to maintain confidential information.

  • Bilingual is preferred


 


REQUIRED EDUCATION:


A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. 

Two years of professional, exempt level experience in Student Services is required.


 


Preferred Experience:


Student Services experience in admissions, advising, financial aid, or registration is preferred.


Bilingual preferred.
