Mathematics Achievement Director

The Mathematics Achievement Director will develop and lead professional development trainings for teachers and leaders, support regions as they implement Eureka Math curriculum, and develop tools and resources that enhance daily math instruction. S/he will also drive KIPP Foundation’s efforts to publish new math assessments and Eureka Math curriculum revisions. This role offers tremendous leadership opportunity for a person with deep content knowledge in mathematics and a desire to drive network-wide student outcomes in Math.

The Mathematics Achievement Director will report directly to the Senior Director of Math. S/he will work closely with work in close partnership with KIPP Foundation colleagues and KIPP network leaders, to support KIPP leaders and teachers in their daily work.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support Network-wide implementation of Eureka Math K-12
• Develop and refine tools that support teachers and leaders with the implementation of Eureka Math, including internalization guides, modified scopes and sequences, and other related resources.
• Build and curate professional development materials, including video exemplars and turn-key professional development sessions for teachers and leaders.
• Monitor, track and analyze student achievement data to drive content development and support our math strategy.
• Work with Senior Director of Math to ensure adaptation and/or customization of current Eureka curricula, leveraging both network feedback, best math practices and current research.
• Collect feedback from the network so that content and support serve network needs and drive academic achievement.

• Manage the Development and Implementation of Common Core Aligned Math Assessments, Tasks, and Items
• In partnership with Senior Director of Math, manage the development and delivery of math assessments to the KIPP network. Manage partnership with PARCC to revise and delivery on time, topic assessments and new mid and end of module assessments.
• Ensure that all new and revised assessments are adopted and effectively implemented by schools and regions.
• Serve as a liaison between the CCSS assessment consortia and the KIPP Foundation.

• Develop and Provide Training and Support for Instructional Leaders and Teachers
• Develop professional development sessions for teachers and leaders on Eureka Math curriculum by leveraging KIPP events (retreats, KIPP Schools Summit, etc.) leading to consistent implementation across the KIPP network.
• Collaborate with Foundation teams to develop the capacity in KIPP leaders to effectively drive student achievement in math.
• Design and lead in-person and virtual professional development sessions, including PLCs and webinars.
• Stay up-to-date and well-informed on new developments, trends, and knowledge in math education and achievement, and proactively share this knowledge with the KIPP’s leaders and teachers.
• Collaborate with KIPP Foundation leadership development colleagues to provide programs and services which ensure network leaders are equipped with the leadership skills to maximize rigorous, college ready math instruction in school and regions.
• Provide on-the-ground support to Math Regional Academic Leaders, as needed.

The Mathematics Achievement Director will be required to travel frequently (~35%).
The location of this role can be based remotely or in any of our four offices: Chicago, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. with NYC preferred. This is a full-time, exempt position.

• Master’s degree required.
• Minimum of 4+ years of math teaching experience.
• Understanding of K-12 math curriculum / pedagogy continuum and working knowledge of current research and promising practices in instruction especially CCSS.
• 3+ years of successful project management experience with demonstrated ability to appropriately scope projects and work plans and to allocate resources accordingly.
• Track record of exemplary performance in a team-based environment with multiple stakeholders and in roles using creativity, relationship-building with wide range of audiences; achieving results while operating within dynamic, fast-paced environment in the face of ambiguity.
• Proven track record of exemplary performance in analytic and problem-solving skills; defining problem, framing options, conducting analysis and integrating new information, synthesizing and developing strategies, and implementation plans).
• Communicates persuasively and articulately (written and verbal); able to facilitate discussions and engage others in collective problem solving and collaboration.
• Experience developing and leading professional development sessions for adult learners.
• Builds rapport easily with new contacts and able to cultivate relationships on behalf of organization.
