Job Description:

Basic Function and Responsibility:

Under general supervision, coordinate the development, marketing, implementation, and evaluation of non- credit on-site and online classes, lectures, and seminars for one or more programs at Oakton on both campuses and in the community.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct needs analyses, research and develop new areas for program development.
     
  • Assesses program effectiveness utilizing course and student data; updates curricula in accordance with trends and district demands.
     
  • Recruit, hire and train new instructors annually for continuing education programs and courses.
     
  • Develops course schedules, assigns instructors and manages the communication with instructors for one or more programs and locations for continuing education youth and adult open enrollment courses.
     
  • Negotiates contracts and partners with online educational vendors and various college departments to offer noncredit online learning opportunities for current and prospective students.
     
  • Manage relationships with contractors, vendors and the electronic communication with students.
     
  • Coordinates the integration and delivery of noncredit virtual programs.
     
  • Assists with the evaluation and assessment of enrollment, fee income and expenditure reports for programs.
     
  • Recommends and implements marketing and promotional campaigns to increase enrollment and awareness of programs utilizing various marketing strategies and mediums.
     
  • Generates statistical information to secure administrative support for Community Education online learning programs and marketing initiatives.
     
  • Works with the Dean, Directors, Sr. Program Developer, other Continuing Education Managers, and the college's Information Technology departments to ensure delivery of high-quality online learning programs both technically and educationally.
     
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

 


Requirements:

Qualifications and Working Conditions:

  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Marketing, Business or related field required, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
     
  • Two years' experience either in Continuing Education, Community Education and/or program development.
     
  • Experience developing and managing career or certificate-based programs preferred.
     
  • Ability to facilitate phases of non-credit program development including needs analysis, design, implementation, marketing, and evaluation.
     
  • Ability to analyze and make inferences from student and course data utilizing various statistical tools (e.g., spreadsheets, pivot tables, SPSS, course evaluations).
     
  • Proven ability to operate independently with vendors and outside organizations.
     
  • Demonstrated experience or understanding of working with online educational vendors preferred.
     
  • Proven ability to operate independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced work environment.
     
  • Possess excellent communication (both oral and written), organizational, and interpersonal skills required to facilitate collaborative relationships with administrators and technical professionals in a variety of College departments and other external partners.
     
  • Ability to execute multiple projects; be creative while respecting the integrity of the institution.
     
  • Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff.

Physical Demands:

Light lifting up to 10 lbs. and light carrying up to 10 lbs. Ability to reach above shoulder. Periods of time spent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending and stooping. Mobility to move from building to building on-Campus and to visit off-Campus entities.  Work is performed in a general office environment and is sedentary in nature.  Little or no exposure to adverse working conditions.

 


Additional Information:

Supervision Received:

Functional supervision is received from the Senior Workforce and Community Education Program Developer. Administrative supervision is received from the Dean of Adult and Continuing Education / Dean of Skokie.

Supervision Exercised:

Functional supervision may be exercised over staff and student employees.

HOURS:  Monday - Friday 8:15 am - 5:00 pm

SALARY:  $65,958

Based on the needs of the college and with Administrator approval, some positions at the college may have hybrid schedule options available after 30 working days.  .
