This vacancy announcement is open to current, permanent federal employees within the Salisbury VA Medical Center ONLY.
MAJOR DUTIES
Research and Analysis Support Work ( 50%)
Performs program support work for patient care services including collection, compilation, research, analysis and tracking of data, and program information. Assists in the planning, reviewing, and reporting of data/statistical results of programs/projects studies. Assists in the drafting of service line correspondence. Generates a variety of reports using spreadsheet, project management and MS Office products. Prepares Power Point presentation pertaining to service initiatives and requirements.
Assists in analysis of problems related to Patient Care Services programmatic areas as directed. Works with senior nursing staff to develop administrative policies as appropriate based on thorough research of current literature including department manuals, statutory and regulatory impact, accreditation standards, and legal guidance. Incumbent serves as administrative support to Patient Care Services Shared Governance Councils. Incumbent assists in all new policy development. Incumbent is responsible for assisting in writing policy changes that result from Council decisions. Examples of facility policy change would be non-medication protocols, tour of duty changes and nursing unit standard operating procures of care. The incumbent's role in policy development is to research VHA policy to insure that all new Salisbury VAMC policies are within the VHA regulations. Incumbent researches nursing evidence based practices to assist in policy formulation. Incumbent updates all department manuals with new policy information.
Project Management Support Work (25%)
Performs full functions of p reject management which includes working with staff to develop project charter, project management plan, communication plan, implementation plan and evaluation plan. Gathers data from various stakeholders to develop project schedule and recommends action to be taken and provides continuous follow up to Patient Care Services senior staff. Incumbent serves as the project management lead, or assists the lead, on all projects associated with the Patient Care Services Shared Governance Councils. As the project management lead the incumbent is responsible for planning, staffing, implementation, controlling, and evaluating the project. As the project management assistant the incumbent assists in all the lead duties as assigned. An example of a project would be using the Lean Six Sigma methodology of 5S (sort, straighten, shine, standardize and sustain) to redesign the Nursing Education class room spaces, and a system redesign of the nurse onboarding process.
Administrative Duties (25%)
Responsibilities in the application and credentialing process include, but are not limited to:
Incumbent is the point of contact for RN and LPN applicants for completing the application process. Incumbent enrolls applicants in VetPro and provides support and information to assist them in submitting an application in VetPro. Incumbent provides support to the Nurse Recruiter and assists in the development and maintenance of an applicant supply system including enrollment, tracking, correspondence, activation and deactivation in VetPro, and closeout processes.
Maintains automated system of program-specific data. Performs work involving the collection, compilation, and/or tracking of data and statistical information in support of a program operation. Assists in the planning, review, and reporting of data/statistical results. Establishes protocols for incoming data, organizes computerized data sets, and retrieves computerized data. Performs a basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports.
Reviews, and determines the adequacy of verifications and references. After the verification of the data entered by the provider, the incumbent assists the applicant in the reconciliation to any discrepancies. The incumbent resolves the discrepancy and notes it in a "comments" field for that data element. Responsible for obtaining VetPro required information utilizing alternative methods when cyber-verification is not available.
