Conduct studies, analyze, and evaluating the needs of surgical service and assists in devising specific solutions to meet those needs.
Reviews data and performs limited studies, summarizes information, identifies trends and proposes and implements solutions.
Planning and conducting projects or studies to analyze, evaluate and provide recommendations to administrative issues.
Assists the Administrative Officer in researching and analyzing straightforward problems or surgical service issues.
Determines pertinent issues and collects relevant information from a variety of sources.
Reviews information and applies standard analytical techniques, and develops recommendations to improve surgical service.
Manages the surgical service call schedules assisting with all subspecialties and posts new schedules monthly and makes any necessary or routine changes as requested by the service chief or chief resident.
Gathers call schedule data from a variety of outside sources.
Acts as the liasion between employees and Clinical Applications/Ol&T to implement work orders and provide technical support.
Orders Domain and VISTNCPRS passwords and Outlook accounts for new users. Reactivates existing accounts that have been terminated or deactivated.
Gives computer and systems access to new attending and coordinates computer training classes and initial set up into the VHA system.
Assists new users with electronic forms and the timely completion of all new user requirements.
Provides technical assistance to all surgical service employees.
Collects, compiles, analyzes and presents data to the Surgery Chief and Surgery AO regarding the consult-tracking package.
Develops, establishes, and reevaluates Surgery specialty clinic provider clinic schedules and profiles.
Maintains consult tracking data via the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VISTA) consult tracking package and makes recommendations to the Surgery Administrative Officer and Chief for addressing consult backlogs and wait times.
Responsible for interpreting established applicable policies, procedures and guidance, providing information on these programs and carrying out work to implement the Surgery program.
Identifies, tracks, eliminates and generally prevent the entry or continuance of erroneous information in the Surgery Program's system in regards to consults and patient wait times by informing the clinical personnel that action needs to be taken.
Establishes and manages clinic profiles for Surgery speciality clinics.
Functions as the administrative process and policy expert, advising medical and administrative staff relative to creating new clinic profiles or making changes to established profiles
Coordinates with the Medical Care Cost Recovery (MCCR) staff to determine if clinic services are billable.
Provides training and troubleshooting for clinical and administrative staff in VISTA Surgery Package, Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) and associated supporting software.
Provides training for individual users on daily operational tasks and trains new users.
Trains service employees and facility employees in the use of Surgery and clinical record programs to ensure that data is entered correctly.
Training of both formal lectures and on-the-job sessions to those employees who will be entering, changing and extracting data.
Trains users in resolving minor processing and equipment problems.
Performs other assigned duties.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:45am - 4:30pm
Compressed/Flexible: Compressed tour to accommodate evening hours or weekend shifts may be required.
