The Staff Psychologist is a member of the Mental Health & Behavioral Sciences (MHBS) Service Line of the Northern Arizona VA Healthcare System (NAVAHCS). The Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) Staff Psychologist works independently, providing expert clinical services and consultation. This position requires advanced knowledge and understanding of the services, benefits and resources available for Veterans, their family members and Caregivers.

The Staff Psychologist supports Veterans, family members, and staff throughout the CBOC's, NAVAHCS and in partnership with community resources. The primary responsibility of this position is to diagnose mental disorders, conduct psychological assessments or neuropsychological screening assessments, treat mental disorders through a variety of modalities, and provide adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders. Among the modalities provided are individual, family, and group psychotherapies and other interventions such as behavioral health and community interventions. Psychologists consult with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues.

Receiving Service Credit or Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. VA may offer newly-appointed Federal employee's credit for their job-related non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
